A mobile site is similar to a website. However, its size has been reduced to fit the screens of mobile phones. Mobile sites may be viewed from anywhere in the world using WAP-enabled mobile phones (cellular phones). Most of the features available in websites are also present in mobile sites. One can write entries, post pictures, and engage in various interactive activities like surveys and polls.
WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) is a means of presenting and delivering wireless information to mobile phones. Its basic purpose is to provide internet access using just your mobile phone.
  1. Check your email’s bulk or spam folders. The verification link might have been redirected there.
  2. If the verification email is found in either of these folders, mark said email as “Not Spam” in order to receive all Mobilemo messages from your Inbox from hereon.

However, if you still can’t find any verification email after checking your Inbox, Bulk, Spam, or other applicable folders:

  1. Go to the Mobilemo homepage http://www.mobilemo.com.
  2. Click the “resend activation email”. link below the Member Login box
  3. Provide your email address. Click the "Send Verification" button
  4. Check your email thoroughly for your new verification link.
Check first if your mobile phone has WAP capability by reading your phone manual or by visiting its manufacturer’s website. If your mobile phone is WAP-capable but is unable to view mobile sites, configure your WAP settings based on your phone’s model and mobile operator.
  1. First check if your mobile phone has WAP capability by reading your phone’s manual.
  2. If your device is WAP ready, check if it has the appropriate WAP settings. Mobile phones can access the Internet only if they have the appropriate WAP settings.
  3. Some mobile phones have the 0 key as a shortcut for connecting to the Web as indicated by an Internet symbol. For these phones you can press the 0 key for three seconds.
  4. Otherwise, you must go to your phone’s Menu and select Internet/Web Options. Select “Go to address” and type http://www.mobilemo.com/yourmobilesitename.
  5. If your mobile phone connects to the Internet, it means that your phone has the right settings and is already WAP enabled. You can begin browsing mobile sites immediately.

However, if your phone displays an error upon pressing the 0 button or after trying to connect to a mobile site, it means that your device does not have the appropriate WAP settings. You have two options:

  1. Contact your wireless provider/phone operator for your WAP settings for further instruction, or
  2. Visit the website of your mobile phone maker (e.g. Nokia) and download your WAP settings from their customer support section.

Below are some links for downloading WAP settings:

Nokia: http://www.nokiausa.com/A4410019
Sony Ericsson: http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=gb&lc=en&ver=4000&template=ps3&zone=ps

  1. On your mobile phone menu, select Web/Internet options.
  2. Select “Go to address” and type http://www.mobilemo.com/yourmobilesitename.
  3. Press the “OK” or submit button. Your WAP connection will automatically be established and you will be directed to your mobile site.
  4. If you want to visit your friend’s mobile site do the same but just type http://www.mobilemo.com/yourfriend’smobilesitename instead.

There are no restrictions in dimension for image files. However, if images are intended to be viewed on a mobile phone, adjustments in dimension and consequently file size are necessary for faster downloading and more convenient viewing. One can adjust the dimension of his image file by using any photo editing application/software. The recommended dimensions are:

  1. 240x240 pixels for square images;
  2. 240x320 pixels for vertically-oriented images (portrait); and,
  3. 320x240 pixels for horizontally-oriented (landscape) images.

Warning: Cropping may reduce image quality. Images viewed through a mobile phone may slightly be distorted depending on the size and orientation of the mobile screen.

  1. Direct download through the Web (Internet)

Select the file to be downloaded by clicking it. The full view of the image will be displayed. Click on the save icon (a diskette) on the lower left corner of the image. A window will appear prompting you to view or save the file. Tick the “Save to disk” option then click the OK button. The file will automatically be downloaded to your computer.

  2. Downloading through the Emulator

Go to the shared folder where the file to be downloaded is located. Select the file by clicking it. A window will appear prompting you to view or save the file. Tick the “Save to disk” option then click the OK button. The file will automatically be downloaded to your computer.

  3. Downloading directly to your mobile phone

Go to the shared folder where the file to be downloaded is located. Highlight the file by scrolling up or down using your mobile phone’s cursor. Upon finding the file, press the “Select” button. The file will automatically be downloaded to your mobile phone.

Your image file is too large. Reduce the size of your file.
There are two ways to reduce the size of an image file. One, reduce its dimensions. Recommended dimensions for mobile viewing are 240x240, 240x320, or 320x240 pixels depending on the layout of the image. Two, decrease the image resolution. Recommended resolution for mobile viewing is 72 dots per inch (dpi).
Mobile phones have various orientations in displaying images depending on their MMS settings or mobile screen dimensions. Some phones display images in a square frame while others adopt the actual screen (LCD) size which may be oriented vertically (portrait) or horizontally (landscape). If a square image is downloaded from a mobile phone that views images through an upright rectangle screen (portrait orientation), the image will most likely be stretched vertically. On the other hand, if an image has a portrait layout but is downloaded and viewed using a mobile phone that views in a landscape orientation, the file will be cropped vertically, dwarfing the image. There are many other factors that may distort images, mainly due to conflict between the actual image dimension and the mobile phone screen size.

Use any other photo editing software to resize images to 240x240 dimension (square layout) to minimize distortion,320x240 pixels (for lanscape dimension) or, 240x320 pixels (fro portrait orientation) to minimize distortion.
3GP (.3gp or .3g2) is a multimedia format for use on 3G mobile phones. 3GP describes image sizes and bandwidth, thus ensuring that content is correctly sized for mobile display screens. Use a Multimedia Converter, such as the Nokia Multimedia Converter, to convert common audio or video files (AVI, WAV, MPEG, and MP3) to 3GP.
Emulator
An emulator is something that imitates or copies. Mobilemo‘s moEmulator is a pop-up window that looks like a mobile phone and imitates its behavior of a mobile phone when viewing mobile sites. It shows exactly how mobile sites will look like when viewed through a mobile phone. You can use this to view the changes you make on your mobile site and to view other people's mobile site, participate in their polls, comments, or even download files.

  1. Log in.
  2. Click the “Embed Emulator” tab on your mobile dashboard.
  3. Copy the entire code.
  4. Paste it on the embedding location (e.g. Profile Tab ) as specified by your social networking or blog site.
  5. If you own a website, paste your emulator code together with your html codes and have the liberty of deciding where to place it.
  6. Modify the dimension of your emulator by altering the width and height measurements in the embedding code.
  7. Save your changes.
Check if you have copied your embedding code entirely. Copy everything and try pasting it again. Save and view your changes. If you cannot find any location where your emulator can be embedded, perhaps your social networking or bog site restricts file embedding. In this case just use Mobilemo’s “View Mobile Site” Image link.
