Safety in file-to-file sharing: Pointers for online security

Filed under: Uncategorized — louella @ 11:59 pm

The exchange of information in the modern world has been effortless first with the emergence of the internet then even more so now with the innovation of mobile web. File sharing is proven to benefit not only individuals but businesses as well, creating a wider platform for corporate marketing and promotion.

However, some file-sharing services allow the exchange of any kind of digital file from text to audio to video—anything is workable. This poses an opportunity for illegal distributors of copyrighted material to pull off their racket. Because these information exchanges are not usually monitored 24/7, distribution of pornographic and/or violent materials among the minors are unrestrained. Of course, there is always the threat of the spread of computer viruses as digital files are usually taken from unknown sources.

Accept or share only legitimate files from known sources, most preferably from people you know. Obtain music files from rightful sources and purchase these files if you may. Pornographic materials not only hog your mobile phone’s file storage but may very well be a source of viruses as well so as much as possible, download or accept files with wholesome content.
